What to expect at Winchester Cathedral Christmas Market

Christmas gifts, crafts and independent traders

With over 130 Alpine style chalets, the Winchester Christmas market truly promises something for everyone. You’ll find handmade jewellery, women’s fashion, quirky gifts, art and homeware, with almost every stall holder an independent business from the local area. From individually crafted products to personalised Christmas ornaments, hear the stories behind the items, and find that special gift you’ve been looking for.

Festive food and drink

One of the most delightful sights at the market are the huge copper vats of steaming mulled wine, like something out of a Christmas fairy tale. They’re certainly hard to resist, especially on a crisp winter’s night. Tuck into all manner of hearty food, too, from bratwurst to Yorkshire pudding wraps. There’s also plenty of tasty treats on offer from local food producers, from artisan cheese to luxury chocolates.

Christmas at Winchester Cathedral

Perhaps what people love most about Winchester Christmas market is its location, held within the grounds of such a majestic cathedral. Steeped in history and still a place of pilgrimage, Winchester Cathedral celebrates the ‘good news’ of Christmas through services, carol concerts and special seasonal performances of music. What could be more uplifting than hearing carols echoing through from the cathedral as you browse the market stalls?
