If you need more than a month and want a custom length, you can choose the start and end date of your season ticket with a monthly plus. It could save you money and time instead of buying multiple monthly and weekly train tickets. A monthly plus season ticket is great for children as a student train season ticket as you can buy the exact number of months and days to match the school term dates.
If you’re buying a monthly plus longer than 10 months and 12 days, we recommend buying an annual season ticket as it will be cheaper for you paying for only 40 weeks and getting 12 weeks free as well as lots of other benefits.
Use the season ticket calculator to find out how much you could save and then buy your ticket here.

Buying and renewing monthly plus season tickets
Before you buy an adult or child monthly plus season ticket, you’ll need a Photocard. Just take a recent passport-sized photo of yourself to your local ticket office and they’ll make one for free. If you’re getting a child Photocard, you’ll also need to bring a passport or birth certificate for proof of age.
Once you have a Photocard, you can buy or renew a Standard or First Class monthly plus season ticket. Children (aged 5-15 inclusive) get a 50% discount on Standard and First Class season tickets including London Travelcards. If your child's monthly plus season ticket starts before their 16th birthday, the 50% off travel will still apply until the ticket expires or up to four months after their 16th birthday, whichever comes first. Once they've turned 16, they can buy a 16-17 Saver to keep getting 50% off train travel.
If you have our free contactless Touch Smartcard, you can buy and renew an adult or child monthly plus season ticket online or from a growing number of our ticket offices. Check your nearest here. Your ticket will be ready to collect two hours after you buy it from your chosen station’s smartcard reader.
With a smartcard, you can plan ahead with confidence and avoid the queues by buying and renewing your season ticket online or on our app up to 14 days in advance.
You can also buy a paper monthly plus season ticket from your local ticket office or online. If you buy online, check our postal delivery options to make sure it will arrive in time and covers the value of the ticket.
If you're buying a new monthly plus season ticket or renewing a season ticket with a break in continuity with a start date on Saturday, Sunday, Monday or Tuesday after a public holiday, your season ticket can be issued the Friday before from 12:00. If the start date is on any other day, your ticket can be issued from 12:00 the day before.
If you're renewing with no break in continuity, you can renew your season ticket seven days in advance.
