Mondays aren’t typically a popular day to head into the office, especially for those facing the post-weekend blues. But I’d think twice about writing office Mondays off! Not only are you much more likely to enjoy quieter trains (and get a seat!), but a myriad of bars, pubs and restaurants across the city offer appetising money-saving deals that would be a shame to miss!

Meet-up Mondays at Slug and Lettuce

Why have one plate of food, when you can have 3…or 5, for less! Head to Slug and Lettuce (Waterloo) to indulge on 3 small plates of food for £20.99 or 5 or £29.99 every Monday from 12-6pm. Any other day, these would cost you £22.50 or £35 respectively. 

Choose from a variety of dishes including halloumi fries, crispy shredded chicken, bao buns, cheesy nachos, crispy prawn skewers, and more.

FUEGO Mondays at Salsa!

Unheard of in London these days - get £2 drinks all night long at Salsa! Temple’s  FUEGO Mondays night. 

If you fancy it, there’s a free 30-minute intro to salsa class at 7:30 - you can cool down with some cheap beverages after! If you work up an appetite there’s also a huge food menu, including the likes of tapas and sizzling fajitas.

Getting home: Take a 5 minute stroll to catch the 139 or 176 bus to Waterloo station. The whole journey takes just over 10 minutes. 

Market Mondays at Señor Ceviche

Try Market Mondays at Señor Ceviche to get Ceviche and Pisco sours for £7 from 12-11pm. It’s a Nikkei Peruvian fusion restaurant - which comprises Peruvian ingredients shaped by Japanese techniques.

Book online or mention "Market Monday" before ordering. You can book for up to 8 people to get this deal! 

If you’re tempted to spend a little more, the menu also features street food snacks, Peruvian barbecue and salads.

Getting home: Señor Ceviche is in Soho, which is a 15 minute journey away from Waterloo station. Walk 6 minutes to Piccadilly circus and hop on the Bakerloo line from there.

Free table tennis Mondays at Bar Kick Shoreditch

If your office is in the east end of London, Bar Kick Shoreditch could be a great shout for a work social, week-night date or a great post-work activity spot with friends. The sports bar offers free unlimited table football every Monday between 4-9pm. A 30-minute session is usually £6, with prices increasing to £8 at peak times. 

Bar Kick labels itself as the “home of bangin’ burgers and craft beer” serving up the likes of Korean fried chicken burgers, classic smash patties, and vegan burgers. The drinks menu includes 11 different beers, cocktails, wines and more.

Getting home: Bar Kick is a 30 minute journey away from Waterloo station. Catch a bus to London Bridge, and then hop on the Jubilee line to Waterloo station.

Margarita Mondays at The Palm House 

Head to The Palm House in Victoria for £7 margaritas from 12pm-9pm (they’re usually £13!). Whether you’re having a (liquid) business lunch or catching up with some friends after work, this one’s a great shout if you fancy a drink but don't want to break the bank - Salud! 

If you’re feeling peckish, The Palm House menu includes a variety of Mexican dishes like tacos, as well as classics like burgers and Caesar Salad. There are some decent vegetarian and vegan options, too!

Getting home: The Palm House is in Victoria, which is just a 5 minute tube ride away from Vaxhaull station - hop on the Victoria line to get there. If you need to journey to and from Waterloo station, you can get there from Vaxhaull in 5 minutes on an SWR train.

2-4-1 pizzas at Hay’s On The River

Get 2-4-1 pizzas at Hay’s on the River in Bermondsey between 12-9pm - a great shout for a Monday business lunch or to satisfy your food cravings before your train home. They usually cost between £14-16 so this takes down each person’s bill to a maximum of £8 for a pizza.

Choose from 8 flavours including truffle and veg, a classic margarita and a meaty ham and salami. 

If you fancy some cocktails to wash your pizza down you can also get 2 for £15 on Margaritas between 4-6pm.

2-4-1 plant-based Mondays at Brewdog Waterloo

Meet your partner, train buddy, or have a catchup with friends at Brewdog Waterloo after work. Located in Waterloo station, Brewdog is a great shout for those who want to make savings on their Monday night dinner before they head home. 

Get a vegan or veggie main for half the price you’d usually pay. Plant-based burgers are usually £14.50, so you’ll pay just £7.25 each!

Spread over two floors, this Brewdog chain has its own brewery, stand-alone cocktailbar, ice cream van, and more.

Getting home: This Brewdog branch is conveniently located in Waterloo station - just head to the platform to catch your train home!

Near & Far Monday boozy meal deal 

Get a burger, fries and a bottle of beer or 175ml bottle of wine for £15 from 5-8:30pm at Near & Far in Camden. Usually, you’d pay nearly £30 for this meal. 

The entire menu is gluten free, and the team claims you ‘won’t be able to tell the difference’. They also welcome furry friends!

Getting home: Hop on the Northern line from Chalk Farm to Waterloo station. The journey’s just over 20 minutes door-to-door. 

Pizza Mondays at Merchant and Weaver 

Get buy-one-get-one-free pizza at Merchant and Weaver every Monday from 12-9pm. Pizzas are usually up to £16, so you’ll pay just £8 each!

Choose from its extensive menu, which includes classics like ham & pineapple and margarita, and unique options like truffle and ham, Goat’s cheese, peppers and pesto, and ‘nduja sausage laced with chilli, peppadew peppers, fiery ventricina salami and sliced roquito peppers.
