What happens to lost property?
Most things left on our trains are found at the final destination. This might be managed by a different train company – we’ll let you know if you need to contact them.
Anything found on our stations (including items left on other train companies’ services) is sent to our office in London Waterloo. It can take 7 days for items to get to us.
Anything perishable is disposed of.
Cash is banked and we issue a receipt. You can reclaim your money by cheque or at the London Waterloo ticket office.
British Passports have to be invalidated and returned to HM Passport Office. Other passports are returned to the Embassy or High Commission of the issuing country.
Bank cards are destroyed, to protect you from fraud.
Items we can keep are stored securely for 3 months.
