We allow bicycles on some of our trains. Check our cycle policy before you travel.

Can I bring bags and luggage on board?

Off on a trip? We have luggage racks and overhead racks to help store larger bags, cabin bags and smaller items. Please remember not to block the aisles, doorways and wheelchair areas with your bags, and to move them off the seat next to you if someone wants to sit down. It's a good idea to keep your luggage where you can see it at all times, and don't forget to take it with you when you leave the train.

You must always keep your personal items with you when at stations. Unattended items will be removed without warning and may be damaged or destroyed

Can I bring prams on board?

You’re welcome to travel with buggies and prams on our trains. You will often find space to store your pram either in the designated wheelchair area or folded up in the luggage or overhead racks. Please remember that if a wheelchair user needs the designated wheelchair space, they have priority, even if you were using the space before they got on the train.

Can I bring pets on board?

We welcome your four-legged friends on board free of charge.

  • You can bring up to 2 dogs on the train and they must be kept on a lead for the duration of the journey
  • Smaller animals must be kept in a pet carrier

Can I bring e-bikes or e-scooters on board?

Reports of incidents involving e-Scooters catching fire on National Rail services or infrastructure are increasing.

In response to these incidents, privately owned e-scooters and any modified e-bikes that do not comply with EAPC regulations are not permitted anywhere on railway premises. This includes station forecourts, cycle storage areas, station buildings, platforms, and on-board trains.

E scooters and e bikes from official hire schemes (such as those in Bournemouth and Southampton) are permitted only within station forecourts and only for the purpose of travelling to or from designated hire bays or racks. They must be parked in these designated areas, and are not permitted inside station buildings, on platforms, or on-board trains.

Privately owned e bikes that meet EAPC regulations are permitted within stations and on-board trains, but must not be charged on railway premises or on-board trains.
