Which tickets can I buy with a smartcard?
You can buy Weekly, Monthly, Monthly Plus and Annual Season Tickets for your smartcard online. Weekly and Monthly Season Tickets can also be bought on our app and at the station. Single and return tickets for your smartcard can currently only be bought on ticket machines at stations.
Monthly Season Ticket holders can set-up auto-renewal to take out the hassle of buying online or at the station. Plus, renew 11 months in a row and get your 12th month free.
And if you need flexibility, our flexi-season Carnet ticket gives you 10 Standard Anytime Day Return tickets with a 5% discount to use over two months.
Travelling to London? Buy a Travelcard with your ticket so you can use TfL services with your Touch Smartcard.
Which tickets can I buy from my SWR app to load onto my Touch Smartcard?
You can currently buy weekly and monthly season tickets to load from the SWR app onto your smartcard.
eTickets are available if you’re buying single and return tickets on the app.
How do I load tickets onto my smartcard?
Your tickets can be loaded onto your smartcard two hours after you've booked them, then activated on your nominated station's smartcard reader.
How do I buy a ticket from my SWR app and load it straight onto my smartcard?
This is available on all Android operating systems with NFC.
Buy your ticket in the SWR app and in ticket delivery options choose ‘Load ticket onto smartcard’.
Once you’ve paid for your ticket, it can be loaded to your smartcard. We recommend placing your smartcard in the centre on the back of your phone.
Do I need to load the ticket from my SWR app onto my smartcard straight away?
We recommend loading your ticket as soon as you have bought it.
If you'd prefer to load it later, your ticket will be stored in ‘My Tickets’ in the app.
Where can I use my Touch Smartcard?

If you have a zones 1-6 London Travelcard loaded onto your smartcard, you have unlimited travel within London on the Underground, Overground, TfL Rail, Docklands Light Railway, buses, trams, and most National Rail services in London*.
How do I use my smartcard?
Once your tickets are loaded onto your smartcard you can travel as normal - just remember to touch in on the smartcard reader before you board your train.
If you have any contactless cards in your wallet, make sure you keep them apart when you touch in and out to avoid card clash.
When you arrive at your destination station, simply touch out on the smartcard reader to complete your journey. A National Rail Photo ID is required when travelling and should be presented when requested. Your local station can create one for you if you provide a passport photo.
