SWR has partnered with GoMedia, the leading onboard infotainment provider, to offer a seamless, easy-to-use, ‘cinema in your seat’ experience that’s bursting with nearly 500 hours of complimentary TV show and movies, including programmes from ITV, HayU, Now TV and UKTV.
SWR|Stream offers customers BAFTA and OSCAR winning films, including the acclaimed Darkest Hour and Get Out, catch-up TV with the latest from Coronation Street and Emmerdale, and an array of sports, documentary and reality TV programmes. Customers can check the latest news and weather, journey information, and children can be entertained with cartoons, animated films and fun games.
Customers can connect their mobile phone, tablet or laptop devices via the onboard Wi-Fi, or through the SWR app, to start watching.
Peter Williams, SWR Commercial and Business Director, said:
"Investing in the latest entertainment and Wi-Fi technology reflects our commitment to improving the onboard experience for commuters, business and leisure customers.
"SWR|Stream offers the ‘cinema in your seat’ experience. In the palm of their hands, customers of all ages can lose themselves in new adventures, catch-up on existing ones or learn about the issues of the day, before reaching their destination. There’s something for everyone on Stream.
"Every customer travelling on our mainland trains will be able to access SWR|Stream as the roll out is expected to be completed by 2020."
Roger Matthews, Managing Director at GoMedia says:
"South Western Railway is a fantastic addition to our network of train operators in the UK. It means that even more passengers can now access top entertainment during their rail journeys, creating more productive and enjoyable experiences onboard.
"The range of content available for South Western Railway means there is something for everyone, and for any length of journey."
SWR is also investing to improve onboard connectivity for customers on mainland services by upgrading trackside infrastructure. The strategic partnership with BT and Icomera, specialists in wireless connectivity on public transport, means more customers can benefit from faster, more reliable onboard Wi-Fi than ever before.
