West of England line temporary timetable - ticket acceptance and refund arrangements

From Monday 10 August 2026, services between London Waterloo, Yeovil Junction and Exeter St Davids will run to a temporary timetable until further notice.

In order to make it easier for you to complete your journey with us during this time, the following arrangements have been made.

If you have a pre-booked Advance tickets for a cancelled service, you can travel with your existing ticket on:

  • One of the two services immediately after your original cancelled service, operated by South Western Railway (SWR); or
  • One of the two services immediately prior to your original service, operated by SWR; or
  • Travel from any stations on our Weymouth route.

You can also travel on earlier SWR services in order to maintain connections involving another train operator(s).

If you have a pre-booked Walk-Up tickets (Anytime, Off Peak, Super Off Peak, Evening Out, Sunday Out etc) you must travel within the normal time restrictions of your ticket.

In addition, some of our normal ticket restrictions will be eased to provide more flexibility.

Ticket acceptance with other train operators

Ticket acceptance with other train operators applies only to tickets purchased on/before 28 July 2026. Tickets purchased after this date you should travel on your booked routes:

Off Peak

Super Off Peak 		 Great Western Railway (GWR): Tickets from/to stations Exeter St Davids – Crewkerne, inclusive, you can travel on GWR services from Exeter St Davids, Tiverton Parkway or Taunton, for travel via Reading for Paddington or Basingstoke. This also applies to journeys from stations west of Exeter, normally valid for travel via Honiton.

CrossCountry: Reading – Basingstoke to connect to/from ticket acceptance with GWR. Please avoid travelling on services between 07:00 – 10:00 and 15:00 – 18:00 due to heavy loadings at those times.
Advance              Great Western Railway (GWR): Where your ticket is for a train that has been cancelled, tickets will be accepted as walk-up ticket types above.

CrossCountry: Reading – Basingstoke to connect to/from ticket acceptance with GWR. Please avoid travelling on services between 07:00 – 10:00 and 15:00 – 18:00 due to heavy loadings at those times.

There is no ticket acceptance on London Underground to/from Paddington to Waterloo.

Alternative SWR routes: If you have a pre-booked Anytime, Off Peak and Super Off-Peak tickets from/to stations Exeter St Davids – Crewkerne inclusive you can use the Waterloo – Weymouth services as an alternative route. Normal time restrictions will apply for the actual journey being made.

Refunds

If your booked train is cancelled or is disrupted, you can obtain a fee free refund or change of journey. Further details can be found here.

Food and drink vouchers

If you have received a £5 food and drink voucher, it can be redeemed at the following cafes.

All vouchers must be used in accordance with the terms and conditions printed on them. The vouchers must be used by Monday 30 November 2026.

Open from Monday to Friday, 0600 to 2000, Saturday, 0700 to 2000, and Sunday, 0900 to 2000
