Train ticket refunds due to delays or cancellations

If you have bought a train ticket but due to service disruption you decide not travel

Apply for a refund on your ticket if

Disruption meant you decided not to travel, or you weren't able to make it to your destination

Use Delay Repay to claim

Before you apply

  • The refund application process varies according to where you bought your ticket
  • We can only process a refund if the ticket is unused and you bought your ticket from the South Western Railway website or App or at an SWR station ticket office or ticket machine
  • Advance tickets are only refundable when a booked train is delayed or cancelled, and you did not travel
  • you must apply for a refund within 28 days of the ticket's expiry date
  • A full refund without administration fee will be given where a refund on an unused ticket is requested due to the cancellation or delay of the planned or booked train service
