August Bank Holiday engineering works

Saturday 29 August to Monday 31 August

This August bank holiday engineering works may affect your journey.

  • Saturday 29 – Monday 31 August – no trains will run between Staines and Twickenham & Staines and Hounslow
  • On Sunday 30 August – no trains will run between Epsom and Dorking, and Epsom and Effingham Junction
  • On Monday 31 August – a Saturday service will be in operation

Saturday 29 – Monday 31 August – Staines to Twickenham/Hounslow

From Saturday 29 to Monday 31 August, Network Rail will be carrying out essential track work Whitton Junction. This means that the lines between Twickenham, Hounslow and Staines will be closed. During this closure, works will also be taking place at the new Feltham Depot to connect the depot to the railway line.

Service Summary

Throughout the works a revised train service will run from Waterloo towards Hounslow and Twickenham, as well as from Staines towards Reading, Windsor and Eton Riverside, and Weybridge (Saturday and Monday) and Woking (Sunday).

Please check your journey before you travel.

On Saturday 29 and Monday 31 August:

Buses will be in replace trains between Twickenham, Hounslow and Staines. 

  • 2 buses per hour will run between Twickenham and Staines calling at Feltham.
  • 2 buses per hour will run between Twickenham and Staines calling at Whitton, Feltham and Ashford (Middlesex).
  • 2 buses per hour will run between Twickenham and Hounslow calling at Whitton.
  • 2 buses per hour will run between Hounslow and Staines calling at Feltham and Ashford (Middlesex).

On Sunday 30 August:

Buses will be in replace trains between Twickenham, Hounslow and Staines. 

  • 2 buses per hour will run between Twickenham and Staines calling at Feltham.
  • 1 bus per hour will run between Twickenham and Staines calling at Whitton, Feltham and Ashford (Middlesex).
  • 1 bus per hour will run between Hounslow and Staines calling at Feltham and Ashford (Middlesex).

Sunday 30 August – Epsom to Dorking/Effingham Junction

On Sunday 30 August Network Rail will be undertaking track maintenance works in the Leatherhead area, as well as work to prepare for the strengthening of Station Road Bridge. This means that the line between Epsom and Dorking, and Epsom and Effingham Junction will be closed.

Service Summary

Trains from Waterloo to Dorking and Guildford via Leatherhead will terminate and restart at Epsom. 

Buses will replace trains between Epsom and Dorking and Epsom and Effingham Junction.

  • 1 bus per hour will run between Epsom and Dorking calling at Ashtead, Leatherhead and Box Hill and Westhumble.
  • 1 bus per hour will run between Epsom and Effingham Junction calling at Ashtead, Leatherhead and Bookham.

Monday 31 August 

On Monday 31 August a Saturday service will be in operation across the entire South Western Railway network.
