SOUTH Western Railway (SWR) is joining train operators throughout England and Wales to make taking that special trip easier and cheaper.
As part of the Great British Rail Sale, which began on Tuesday 6 January, SWR is offering tickets at up to half price on some of its most popular routes to and from London.
Discounted tickets will be available on selected services that start and end at London Waterloo or Clapham Junction; on routes where Advance tickets are available, along with some selected stations. Find more information here.
Top destinations include:
- London – take a trip to the capital for shopping, the theatre or sightseeing - with the London Eye, South Bank and The Shard all within a short walk of Waterloo station
- Bournemouth – enjoy seven miles of award-winning sandy beach and a thriving Victorian coastal town
- Exeter St Davids – visit the stunning cathedral, or visit the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery which displays Devon and Exeter's rich history
- Poole – survey Europe's largest natural harbour, with the beautiful Sandbanks Beach nearby
- Portsmouth– climb aboard Nelson’s flagship HMS Victory and other iconic vessels at the Historic Dockyard, or hop on onward travel to the Isle of Wight
- Salisbury – discover the prehistoric mysteries of the world-famous Stonehenge monument and gaze up at one of the UK’s most magnificent cathedrals
- Southampton – tour the Old Town and the Maritime Quarter and embark on cruises to exotic destinations worldwide
- Weymouth – arrive at the gateway to the Jurassic Coast with stunning scenery and fossils waiting to be found
- Winchester- see King Arthur’s legendary Round Table, with more pubs per head than anywhere in the UK
In addition to these great savings, SWR customers can turn their trip into a treat by claiming an SWR Reward, which could include a discount on attractions like the London Eye or the West End or a discounted lunch at restaurants including Gordon Ramsay’s Street Burger. The sale continues until Monday 12 January, with tickets valid for travel between Tuesday 13 January and Wednesday 25 March 2026.
