  • South Western Railway’s full West of England line timetable, with hourly trains from London to Exeter, is set to be restored from Saturday 29 November
  • To thank customers for their patience, SWR is offering 20,000 additional Advance tickets starting from as little as £13
  • A wide range of off-peak tickets for journeys between Salisbury and Exeter will also be discounted by one third
  • The special discounts apply to off-peak journeys between Saturday 29 November and Wednesday 17 December inclusive

Today, South Western Railway (SWR) is making thousands of additional discounted off-peak tickets available for travel when the full West of England timetable is restored.

SWR and Network Rail announced on Tuesday 4 November that the full timetable for services between London Waterloo and Exeter St Davids is set to be reintroduced on Saturday 29 November.

From Monday 10 November, SWR is making available 20,000 more of its lowest priced Advance fares, for journeys between London Waterloo/Clapham Junction and stations west of, and including, Salisbury.

The discounted fares include off-peak journeys between London Waterloo/Clapham Junction and:

  • Templecombe and Gillingham (Dorset) for £13
  • Yeovil, Sherborne and Crewkerne for £14
  • Axminster, Honiton and Exeter for £15.30.

To purchase tickets at these prices, customers would normally have to book typically 9 to 12 weeks before travel.

There are also discounted tickets for customers travelling to all stations between Salisbury, and Exeter, making spontaneous local travel more affordable for customers who were affected by the reduced timetable. The offer will include a third off all Off-Peak, Super Off-Peak, Evening Out and Sunday Out fares. For example, a return ticket between Yeovil and Exeter will cost as little as £15.20, compared to the normal lowest fare of £23.

These fares are now available on SWR’s website, at www.southwesternrailway.com.

Peter Williams, South Western Railway’s Customer and Commercial Director, said:

“We want to thank our customers for their patience since the amended timetable was introduced in August. To welcome customers back, we are pleased to offer a wide range of discounted fares on West of England line journeys.

“Our full timetable is set to be restored from Saturday 29 November, with discounted advance fares from this date until Wednesday 17 December, available to purchase now.

“We hope our customers enjoy everything the West of England has to offer as we approach the festive season.”

  • The full West of England timetable is set to be restored on Saturday 29 November. Until this date, one train is running every two hours between London and Exeter. Every other hour, a train will run from London Waterloo as far as Yeovil Junction. Services are also taking longer than usual.
