SWR statement an update from the fourth day of industrial action Friday 21 June 2019

Friday 21st June 2019

"Thanks to our team of contingency guards, and guards who reported for work despite the strike, we enabled around 100,000 passenger journeys yesterday to Ladies Day at Ascot, the Metallica concert at Twickenham and the Hampton Court Music Festival.

"Despite the RMT calling the strikes to coincide with one of the busiest weeks of the summer on our network, we were able to run over half our normal services and, along with carrying our normal commuters into work, we were able to keep those heading to special events on the move.

"We would like to thank our passengers for their continued patience and apologise for the disruption to their services. We hope the RMT will now respond to the offer of talks we made last week so passengers don’t have to face more needless disruption."
