Last updated: Saturday 29 November 2025
The full West of England timetable was restored on Saturday 29 November 2025. Thank you for your patience during the recent amended timetable.
Trains are running to the regular timetable with one train per hour between London Waterloo and Exeter St Davids. Journey planners are fully up to date and customers can check their journeys  here.
What timetable is running?
West of England Line services are running to our Autumn 2025 timetable. From Sunday 14 December, we will run services to our December 2025 timetable.
Both timetables are available to view  here.
What happened?
The driest spring and hottest summer ever recorded in the UK had dried out clay embankments between Salisbury and Exeter and disturbed track levels, a condition known as  'soil moisture deficit'.
As the ground below the tracks continued to move, engineers could not complete repairs and speed restrictions were introduced for the safety of passing trains.
Cooler temperatures and autumn rain have since rehydrated and stabilised the embankments, and engineers have now completed extensive tamping work to restore track levels.
With track levels back to normal the speed restrictions have been removed, and the normal timetable has been restored.
Are trains calling at Crewkerne?
Yes, services to Crewkerne are running as normal.
Discounted fares
To thank customers for their patience during the amended timetable, we are pleased to offer discounted fares for off-peak journeys between London Waterloo/Clapham Junction and stations west of, and including, Salisbury.
This includes off-peak journeys between London Waterloo/Clapham Junction and:
- Templecombe and Gillingham (Dorset) for £13
- Yeovil, Sherborne and Crewkerne for £14
- Axminster, Honiton and Exeter for £15.30
To purchase tickets at these prices, customers would normally have to book typically 9 to 12 weeks before travel.
There are also discounted tickets for customers travelling to all stations between Salisbury and Exeter, making spontaneous local travel more affordable for customers who were affected by the reduced timetable.
The offer includes a third off all Off-Peak, Super Off-Peak, Evening Out and Sunday Out fares. For example, a return ticket between Yeovil and Exeter will cost as little as £15.20, compared to the normal lowest fare of £23.
The special discounts apply to off-peak journeys between Saturday 29 November and Wednesday 17 December, and are available on our website  here.
