We’re fixing the fundamentals to deliver a more reliable railway
Since transferring to public ownership in May 2025, South Western is now a single, integrated business responsible for both the trains you travel on and the tracks they run on.
By bringing track and train together, we can work as one team, with one objective: delivering a better railway for you.
We know that the reliability of our services matters, and as we transition to becoming Great British Railways (GBR), we are focused on fixing the fundamentals to deliver a railway you can rely on to get you where you need to be every day.
We also know where we need to improve and have a clear plan centred on the ‘Four Ts’ essential to running a reliable railway: Tracks, Trains, Timetable and Team.

Improving your railway
Our plan at a glance

Virtually every service across South Western converges on the section of track between Woking and London Waterloo, the ‘Critical Corridor’ Any fault or delay there can impact services across all corners of our network.
Preventing, identifying and fixing issues in this corridor is critical to improving the reliability of your journeys.
Alongside the ‘Four Ts’ – our plan outlines:
- How we’re improving reliability
- How we’re improving service recovery
- How we’re improving your experience
- How we’re improving your safety
