From Sunday 20 September to Saturday 12 December 2026 trains will run to our autumn timetable. There will be minor changes to train times, with services departing between one and five minutes earlier compared to our May 2026 timetable.

For example, the 0621 service from Dorking to London Waterloo will depart at 0620, while the 0523 service from Portsmouth Harbour to London Waterloo will depart at 0518.

Why are you making these changes?

Every autumn we make small changes to our timetables during leaf fall season.

When leaves fall on our tracks and trains travel over them, they form a slippery surface that is similar to black ice on roads.

We need to allow our trains more time to accelerate and brake in these conditions, which is why services across our network are retimed.

Does this affect the West of England timetable?

Services between London Waterloo and Exeter St Davids are running to a temporary timetable until further notice due to a problem known as ‘soil moisture deficit’. This timetable is not affected by our autumn changes.
