Christmas Shoebox Appeal

Over 704 shoeboxes and individual gifts have been donated by South Western Railway staff and customers.

32 stations across the SWR network took part in the ninth annual SWR Christmas Shoebox Appeal.

Items donated included hats, gloves, toiletries and food items such as biscuits, soup and chocolate – all will make a difference to those most in need, including people who are vulnerable or are facing homelessness.

Several stations took part across the SWR network, including Aldershot, Basingstoke, Clapham Junction, Guildford, Putney, Portsmouth, Richmond, Salisbury Twickenham and Winchester.

Colleagues joined together from 1 – 6 December to collect and wrap 704 shoeboxes of full of gifts. A monetary donation of £500 was also provided from two of SWR’s suppliers.

All donations were delivered to local charities, including the Ace of Clubs Homeless Centre in Clapham and Merton Homelessness Project in Wimbledon.

A special thank you to everyone who donated or supported the appeal.
