  Berrylands Station Upgrade: Buses replace trains to / from Berrylands from Monday 11 May to Saturday 19 September

  Locations Affected:

  All South Western Railway services to / from / via Berrylands

  Engineering work is taking place at Berrylands station, closing the station from Monday 11 May to Saturday 19 September. Background information on the work can be found below.

  As a result, no trains will call at Berrylands station. Trains will still be able to run through the station without stopping.

  Replacement buses will run between:

  • New Malden and Berrylands
  • Berrylands and Surbiton

  Please be aware that on some weekends, engineering work will close all lines through Berrylands. You can check for engineering items via the Status and Disruptions page.

  Background information:

  Network Rail are carrying out essential upgrades at Berrylands station, to extend the life of the station and improve the experience for passengers travelling via this important suburban hub. To allow completion of the work, Berrylands station will be closed for over 4 months and trains will run through without stopping.

  Berrylands station sits on a five-metre-high embankment with timber platforms that are no longer fit for purpose. This project will see the full replacement of Berrylands’ two timber platforms and supporting structures, which date back to the 1930s. Also, narrow sections of the platform will be widened to improve safety and accessibility. New platform lighting, CCTV, information screens and help points will be installed. This project will ensure Berrylands continues to serve the local community reliably and safely for years to come. More details on the work taking place are available on the Network Rail website.

  Amended services to / from Wandsworth Town from Monday 11 May to Sunday 11 October

  Locations Affected:

  All South Western Railway services to / from Wandsworth Town

  Engineering work is taking place at Wandsworth Town, closing some platforms at the station.

  Monday 11 May to Sunday 26 July:

  Platform 2 at Wandsworth Town is closed. Trains will call at platform 1 during this period.

  Monday – Thursday between 11:00 – 14:00:

  No trains travelling from London Waterloo will call at Wandsworth Town. Passengers for Wandsworth Town should circulate via Putney.

  Monday 27 July to Sunday 11 October:

  Platform 3 at Wandsworth Town is closed. Trains will call at platform 4 during this period.

  Monday – Thursday between 11:00 – 14:00:

  No trains travelling towards London Waterloo will call at Wandsworth Town. Passengers for Wandsworth Town should circulate via Clapham Junction.

  Buses replace trains between Teddington and Shepperton on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 July

  Locations Affected:

  South Western Railway between London Waterloo and Shepperton / Kingston

  Engineering work is taking place between Teddington and Shepperton, closing all lines.

  Buses will replace trains between Teddington and Shepperton.

  Trains that usually run between London Waterloo and Kingston (via Hounslow) will be amended to run between London Waterloo and Hounslow only.

  No trains will run between Woking and Alton, or between Ascot and Guildford via Aldershot.

  Replacement buses will run between:

  • Ascot and Guildford via Aldershot
  • Farnborough Main and Alton via Ash Vale

  You can use alternative trains between Woking and Farnborough Main at no extra cost to connect with replacement buses to / from Alton.

  Buses replace trains between Southampton Central / Eastleigh and Portsmouth Harbour on Sunday 5 July

  Locations Affected:

  Great Western Railway between Cardiff Central and Portsmouth Harbour

  South Western Railway between London Waterloo / Southampton Central and Portsmouth Harbour

  Southern between London Victoria / Brighton / Barnum / Horsham and Portsmouth Harbour also between Brighton and Southampton Central

  Engineering work is taking place between St Denys and Fratton, closing all lines.

  Great Western Railway:

  Trains between Cardiff Central and Portsmouth Harbour will terminate/start Southampton Central.

  A replacement bus service will operate between Southampton Central, Fareham, Cosham (until 20:13), Fratton*, Portsmouth & Southsea* and Portsmouth Harbour.

  Road journey time Southampton Central-Portsmouth Harbour is approximately 75 minutes

  *At Fratton and Portsmouth & Southsea:

  Buses from Southampton Central to Portsmouth Harbour will stop to drop off only.

  Buses from Portsmouth Harbour to Southampton Central will stop to pick up only.

  The 17:50 Cardiff Central to Westbury and 19:34 Bristol Temple Meads to Portsmouth Harbour will not run. Customers should travel by alternative services.

  South Western Railway:

  Buses will replace trains between Southampton Central / Eastleigh and Portsmouth Harbour.

  Southern:

  Buses will replace trains between Southampton Central and Havant, calling at Swanwick, Fareham and Cosham.

  Trains which usually run between Southampton Central and Brighton will be diverted to run to and from Portsmouth & Southsea, calling additionally at Fratton.

  Journey times will be increased when using replacement buses.

  Buses replace trains between Reading and Basingstoke on Sunday 19 July

  Locations Affected:

  CrossCountry between Manchester Piccadilly and Bournemouth

  Great Western Railway between Reading and Basingtoke

  South Western Railway between Reading and Salisbury

  Engineering work is taking place between Reading and Basingstoke, closing most lines.

  CrossCountry:

  Trains will not call at Basingstoke, Winchester and Southampton Airport Parkway. Journey times will be extended by up to one hour. Rail replacement buses will operate between Reading and Basingstoke.

  Great Western Railway:

  Trains between Reading and Basingstoke will not run and will be replaced by buses.

  Buses will call at Reading Green Park, Mortimer, Bramley and Basingstoke.

  Road journey time between Reading and Basingstoke is 70 minutes.

  CrossCountry Trains will be operating fast buses between Reading and Basingstoke.
