New stores open at Richmond station

Tuesday 12th November 2019

South Western Railway (SWR) welcomes four new stores to Richmond station as part of an annual £100,000 investment to develop high-quality retail space across the network.

UK-wide retail outlets, Cards Galore, Digby’s Patisserie and Puccino's Café, as well as G.R.E.A.T Flowers, an independent florist, are new outlets offering 13 million passengers passing-through the Richmond station each year a wide range of delicious snacks, food on the run and last minutes gifts.

These new retailers are a part of a near £1m investment by SWR - over the course of the franchise - to enhance the customer shopping experience by improving the quality of physical retail space at stations across SWR’s network.

The investment will see improvements to shop frontages, new energy efficiency measures, and create extra premises in existing retail space, to encourage more high-quality outlets into its stations.

In this financial year, no less than 12 stations will receive investment:

Chessington North          Farncombe Richmond Sunningdale

Claygate               Haslemere               Shanklin              Teddington

Eastleigh            Portsmouth and Southsea Staines Vauxhall

Alistair Wright, SWR’s Head of Station Property, said:

"We’re committed to improving the passenger experience at our stations as well as on our trains. Over the course of the franchise, we’re investing to improve the look, feel and quality of retail outlets across the network.

"We aim to offer our passengers a wide choice of outlets, so they’re spoilt for choice on their daily commute."

Rumit Shah, Cards Galore, said:

"We are pleased open at Richmond station and serve our customers. This is our second recent opening with South Western Railway having just opened another store at Wimbledon station."

Tony Brogden, Manager at Puccino’s Cafe, said:

"Puccino’s are delighted to be introducing a new larger coffee bar at Richmond station. It will be a great addition to our brand and we look forward to serving our new and loyal customers."
