Train Guard won’t be waking up passengers before they go-go, as he heads out on sabbatical to pursue his dream.

Steve Mitchell has been serving customers on trains for more than 16 years, however he has just set off on a less familiar round trip as the leading performer in a touring musical show.

“The George Michael Story” tells the story of the musical great from day one of his career, supported by an eight-piece live band, video effects, a light show and narration.

A must-see for any George Michael fan, the show will be performed at major theatres across the U.K.

Steve's friendly face will be familiar to passengers from stations as far as Staines, Waterloo, Richmond, Kingston, Hounslow, Weybridge, Woking and right across the Reading and Ascot and Windsor and Eton Riverside lines.

Based in his hometown of Staines, Steve is not new to the music industry having previously toured with bands in Louisiana, USA, worked with many cover bands and even written his own album.

South Western Railway Guard, Steve Mitchell, said: "I'm looking forward to a year of performing on stage and sharing George’s wonderful music with audiences across the UK.

"He is a legend and a genius, and I’m very proud to be honouring him in all his music.

"Thank you to all my colleagues and our customers for their support - I hope to see as many of them as possible at our shows!"

Michelle Lawlor, Guards Manager, South Western Railway, said: “We wish Steve all the best on his UK tour and hope he brings the same joy to fans as he does to our customers!”

Tour dates, videos and more can be found at the George Michael Story website and on their facebook page. Additional tour dates, including at venues on the South Western Railway network, will be announced shortly.

Five per cent of show profits will be donated to George Michael’s charities.
