At a glance - ticket acceptance, refunds and compensation arrangements for upcoming strike action

  • If you have already purchased daily tickets for Thursday 18 or Saturday 20 August , and you decide not to travel because the service you originally intended to travel on is cancelled, delayed or rescheduled or your seat reservation will not be honoured, you will be able to claim a fee-free refund. Alternatively, you can use the same ticket to travel the day before the date shown on the ticket or up to and including Tuesday 23 August.
  • Monthly and longer season ticket holders (including holders of Flexi Season Tickets) who were unable to travel or followed advice and chose not to travel on Thursday 18 or Saturday 20 August can claim compensation through our Delay Repay scheme. Please make one claim for each day affected and select a delay of 120+ minutes to claim back the value of one day’s travel.
  • As this is a national strike affecting nearly all train companies, we do not expect tickets to be accepted on other operators.
  • Your ticket will be valid on alternative SWR routes at no extra cost, but services that are running will be extremely busy and customers are urged only to travel if absolutely necessary.
