SWR teams up with Realtime Trains

Friday 18th December 2020

Rail passengers are now able to plan ahead more effectively, thanks to a new partnership between South Western Railway and the live journey information website, Realtime Trains.

“Know Your Train” – a new feature on the Realtime Trains website - provides SWR customers with more information, including the length and formation of the train, as well as the available on-board facilities such as Wi-Fi, plug sockets and entertainment systems.

Customers can already use the Realtime Trains website to keep up-to-date on their journey’s progress, including by getting the latest information on calling points and delays.

With customers now able to access better information hours before they get on a train, planning ahead has never been easier. The busy Christmas period and the ongoing challenges surrounding COVID-19 means it has never been more important either.

Alan Penlington, Customer Experience Director at South Western Railway said:
“The launch of the Know Your Train feature will give our customers more information about their journeys than ever before, highlighting the availability of many features we have introduced on board our trains including Wi-Fi and infotainment.

“With a number of train types in our fleet, providing information to our customers on train lengths and formations will also help them better plan their journey, which we’re asking people to do now more than ever.”

Tom Cairns, Founder of Realtime Trains, said:
“We’re excited to welcome South Western Railway as our latest partner for Know Your Train, which now covers over a third of the rail network. Customers can now expect more information relevant to their journey, giving them more confidence in travelling by train in future.

“As the railway looks forward to welcoming more customers back, we're proud to be supporting the industry by sharing information in new and innovative ways.”

The Know Your Train feature even allows customer to view the train’s livery and find out individual vehicle numbers.
