South Western Railway wins Wellbeing in Rail award at Rail Business Awards

  • SWR picks up Wellbeing in Rail award for building a supportive and inclusive workplace.

South Western Railway (SWR) walked away from the recent Rail Business Awards, held in London on Thursday 23 February, with one award win and one Highly Commended.

The company was the winner in the Wellbeing in Rail category and the award was picked up by members of SWR’s Wellbeing Team, led by People and Culture Director, Sharon Johnston.

The judges said the ‘very honest’ entry faced up to the issues that led to the introduction of a diverse range of mental and physical health initiatives that exceeded all targets.

SWR is creating and maintaining a safe and welcoming workplace that respects and upholds the dignity of everyone, leading to a place where all can thrive and its vision is to fully embed the importance of wellbeing and mental health with a companywide approach, with clear and visible actions.

There was further recognition for the company as the Inclusion & Diversity Team were Highly Commended in their category for their work in creating a more diverse, inclusive organisation, harnessing colleagues’ full potential, whilst also attracting and retaining the best talent.
