Serving military personnel and veterans attending local Remembrance Sunday events on Sunday 13 November can, once again, travel for free on all South Western Railway (SWR) services.
Serving personnel travelling to the Submariners’ Remembrance Service on Sunday 6 November or the main national commemoration at the Cenotaph in London on Sunday 13 will additionally be able to travel on any London bound SWR service for free on the day before the service, returning from London on the Sunday.
Please note that there will be limited SWR services on Saturday 5 November due to industrial action and customers should check before travelling at https://www.southwesternrailway.com/plan-my-journey
This offer, which is funded by the Department for Transport, is available to anyone who is travelling in uniform or able to show an appropriate form of identification.
This is our way of paying tribute to both current and previous generations of servicemen and women as many of our colleagues, including guards and drivers, are former members of the armed services. Our commitment to supporting Remembrance events demonstrates their significance for us.

To make use of the free travel offer, current serving personnel must be in uniform or present a current MOD90 Ministry of Defence-issued ID card.
Veterans should present one of the following forms of ID:
- Veterans Railcard
- Veterans Oyster Card
- Ministry of Defence issued Veterans ID card
- Any other form of identification showing the customer is a veteran (e.g. proof of pension)
