White Ribbon Day

25.11.23
End men's violence against women

As part of our overall approach to protecting vulnerable people, SWR is joining with others in the Rail Industry to support White Ribbon Day on 25 November 2023.

What is White Ribbon Day?

White Ribbon is the UK’s leading charity engaging men and boys to end violence against women and girls. The charity aims to prevent violence against women and girls, by changing harmful attitudes, systems and behaviours that perpetuate gender inequality and men’s violence against women.

Most violence against women is committed by men, and the charity campaigns to educate men that they can take responsibility for thinking about their own actions, and promoting equality and respect. It also encourages men to be prepared to call out harassing, sexist and violent behaviour when they see it.

White Ribbon Day takes place on 25 November each year, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and highlights how we can work together to ensure equality and safety for women.

What do we do to show our support on White Ribbon Day?

South Western Railway continues to proudly support White Ribbon in their mission to end violence against women and girls.

This year our campaign, to raise awareness for this important cause, will run from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 November and will include digital artwork across our stations and features on our social media channels.

On White Ribbon Day in 2022, White Ribbon logos were applied to the cabs of 20 of our trains.

We also held an event at London Waterloo station to highlight our commitment to ending violence against women and girls in the industry, while also celebrating our accreditation of the British Transport Police’s Safeguarding in Rail scheme.
