Syon Lane - accessible bridge construction

Improving accessibility and safety

From the beginning of April, we’ll be building a new accessible footbridge with a lift at Syon Lane. The project is expected to be completed later this year and is mainly funded by Hounslow Council. Making the station step free will be a real positive for people with limited mobility traveling round the Hounslow Loop, however the delivery of the new bridge will affect the station and the platforms. The station will remain operational throughout the works, but there will be some access changes during the project delivery:

Phase Work undertaken Access to Platform 1
1 Footpath improvement
Footpath via Rothbury Gardens will be closed. Access will be through the Syon Lane entrance (using the stairs)

Ticket Machines, Oyster Readers and Help Points will be relocated nearer to the waiting shelters.
2 Lift and bridge substructure and foundation
Installation of lift shaft and footbridge steel structure

Installation of lift equipment

Removal of existing platform 1 staircase and installation of the link to the new footbridge
Staircase from Syon Lane will be closed. Access to the station will be via Rothbury Gardens (step-free footpath).
3 Platform finishing and footbridge commisioning Following commissioning the new footbridge link will be opened.

Oyster card readers will be moved to new locations at the entrance.

The width of the platforms will be temporarily reduced while the work takes place, so please take extra care.

If you've got any concerns about accessing the station, or if you need help travelling, we recommend using Brentford station during the time when the footpath is closed and contacting our Assisted Travel Line on 0800 52 82 100. Find out more about our assisted travel services.
