Upgrading to first class
You can upgrade to first class on weekdays by paying the difference between the standard class and valid first class fare at the ticket office. You need to do this before you travel or you may be asked to buy a new ticket on board - even if you planned to buy one when you're on the train.

On weekends you can upgrade to first class on-board. It starts from just £5, depending on how far you're travelling. Just take a seat in first class and wait for the Guard to take payment when they check your ticket.
