Annual train tickets

Choose an annual season ticket for the best savings for your commute.

If you’re travelling regularly between the same two stations, an annual season ticket will get you the best savings.

How much is an annual season ticket?

On average, an annual season ticket is the same price as 40 weekly tickets with 12 weeks free. This means you can save over 20% on your train travel for the year.

Not only will you save money, but you’ll get unlimited travel between the two stations on your ticket and any stations in-between on your route for the whole year. Don’t forget to make the most of your yearly train pass by using it at any time of day, including evenings and weekends saving you more money and time.

Use the season ticket calculator to find out how much you could save and then buy your ticket here.

Buying and renewing annual season tickets

Before you buy a Standard or First Class season ticket, you’ll need a Photocard. Just take a recent passport-sized photo of yourself to your local ticket office and they’ll make one for free.

Smartcard

If you have our free contactless Touch Smartcard, you can buy and renew an annual season ticket online. It’s ready to collect after two hours from your chosen station’s smartcard reader.

With a smartcard, you can plan ahead with confidence and avoid the queues by buying and renewing your season ticket online or on our app up to 14 days in advance.

Paper

You can also buy a paper annual season ticket online or from a ticket office. If you buy online, check our postal delivery options to make sure it will arrive in time and covers the value of the ticket.

If you're buying a new annual season ticket or renewing a season ticket with a break in continuity with a start date on a Saturday, Sunday, Monday or Tuesday after a public holiday, your season ticket can be issued the Friday before from 12:00. If the start date is on any other day, your ticket can be issued from 12:00 the day before.

If you're renewing with no break in continuity, you can renew your season ticket seven days in advance.
