On New Year’s Eve, Waterloo Station will be very busy as people attend the fireworks display at the London Eye and other festivities in Central London.
We wish to draw to your attention to this year’s arrangements with regards to our bespoke crowd management measures. Please be advised that you must have a ticket to view this year’s event in the designated zones.
The New Year’s Eve Fireworks are ticketed to avoid overcrowding and to provide safe viewing areas to see the display. Outside of the viewing areas restrictions will be in place, so if you don’t have a ticket, please don’t come to the area.
Before you buy tickets you should consider the transport services you need both to get you to the event and home again afterwards. Be prepared to use different routes, stations or station entrances with queueing systems in place to get home. Some stations may have to close at short notice to ensure public safety.
Visit Transport for London and National Rail for more information.
Please check our transport updates on some of the key changes which may affect Tube and rail services on and around New Year’s Eve.
Please remember you won’t be able to cross the river on foot before or after the event. Around 2pm, Westminster Bridge will close to pedestrians and Golden Jubilee Bridge around 4pm. Waterloo Bridge will also close to pedestrians around 4pm, and to all vehicles including bicycles from 7:30pm. Other bridges will be affected by road closures during the evening/night.
In order to ensure a safe environment for all customers and staff, exits at Waterloo station will begin to close at 20:00 and a queuing system put in place.
Please be advised the queuing systems will differ from last year and will be confirmed on our website in due course.
A bespoke crowd management system will be in operation at Vauxhall station. Details of which will be confirmed on our website in due course.
The queuing systems will allow us to ensure a safe journey home for all customers through the night. This may involve a long wait to enter the station. We appreciate this may cause frustration however it is necessary to ensure safety and thank you in advance for your patience.
