It’s time to look forward to great days out

Small businesses are the heart and soul of our region and when we asked you to tell us about your favourites you did not disappoint.

With over 2,000 nominations made, choosing five small businesses to each receive a recovery package worth £12,000 was challenging. But after much deliberation our judging panel selected the five winners below.

The French Horn – Alton

This traditional Alton country gastropub boasts an impressive and flower-filled garden, making it a perfect location for a sunny afternoon and hearty lunch. Home-cooked food is the highlight here, and ale-lovers can raise a glass to a plentiful selection of local beers.

Amanda and Matthew run Suttons Coffee Shop with their family. Founded in 1878 by the Sutton family as a grocery store, it’s believed to be the oldest team rooms in Weymouth. And there’s a reason they’ve lasted so long – aside from their own special “Suttons Blend” of coffee, the shop is known for its cosy atmosphere, great service and much-loved steak and kidney pies. So whether you’re looking for a delicious breakfast to start your day at the beach, or the a coffee and cake on a rainy afternoon, Suttons is well worth a visit.
