Check out our recommendations below.

What is Bonfire Night?

Bonfire night, historically known as Guy Fawkes’ Day or Fireworks Night, celebrates the foiling of the Gunpowder Plot on 5 November 1605. Catholic conspirators sought to blow up the Houses of Parliament and King James II, but a search of the cellars below the House found Guy Fawkes guarding the gunpowder.

To this day, the UK celebrates the capture and the failure of the plot with fireworks and the burning of effigies.
